CEREMONY IN HONOR OF THE PREVIOUS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
MEETING BETWEEN SOC AND PETRO AIR
At the behest of activating the rule of Media in the Libyan oil industry, the first meeting of the NOC Media coordinators has been held on Monday 19/04//2010 in the main conference room of Mlita Oil & Gas Company.
The meeting has been presided by Mr Ahmed Eltaghdy, Manager of the international cooperation & energy information dept. with the presence of Mr Mohammed Imhemmed Aoun, Chairman of Mlita Oil & Gas Co. who commenced the meeting with a brief word in which he has warmly welcome the attendees, & expressed his gratitude for selecting Mlita Oil & Gas Co. to be the meeting place for such important event. He has also emphasized the rule of Media in the oil sector, adding that; "it is the source that is proved to be dependable in reflecting a clear & true picture of the productive activities of nations, as well as, of international companies & corporations."
Mr Eltaghdy has also pointed out that, "The NOC is keenly interested in this respect & that, the sector had previously accepted, for a reason or another, to play such rule, so as to sound rather occult & introverted. Yet, the case today should have had turned over a new leaf, which suggests that, we are to deal with news & information equally with confidence & transparency, so that people could precisely learn the course of events taking part in the oil sector, basically, due to the notable fact that, oil is by far the capital source of revenue for the Libyan state."
On the other hand, Mr Aoun has emphasized the obligations held upon the shoulders of those who deal with the Media, up to the point that, they have to be honest, transpicuous & trustworthy. Writers ought to be having reliable sources of referential data, materially tangible & confidently beyond doubt, as well as, they should be having proof of evidence for their pamphlets, articles, essays, and/or treatises.
He also requested the Media men to urge people to write cogently for the sake of plausible reform, not for unfair censures or pointing out faults. A person is not shamed when demanding his rights by writing in the newspaper, but he should seek only the truth, rather than amorally offending individuals & people, or acting at being infra dignitatem, as it is certainly standing against the ethics & moralities, upon which the Media profession values, standards & principles had all been built.
Eventually, Mr Aoun has concluded his word by referring to the supportive stances that Mlita Oil & Gas Company has taken in behalf of all the Media informational activities, that are falling within its capacity & control, so as to enable the Media to be endowed with the powers necessary to function. he also warmly wished, at the same time, the audience all success & Godspeed in achieving the goals set forth & before them for action.
The meeting has also handled & discussed suggestions expressed by the attendees, which aimed at exposing the Media rule & to show the challenging activities that the sector is heavily engaged with, as well as signaling the vital importance of the web sites to the oil companies, and the urgent need for their modernization & then activation, so as to have the news activities, operations & enterprises in re to the sector, been published and/or duly distributed, all over the world.
At the closing of the meeting, it has been agreed that, the second meeting has been scheduled to coincide with Monday, July 12th/2010, whereas, correspondents to represent firms have been duly nominated, in order to supply the NOC with information & news related to the productive activities of the oil companies falling under the NOC supervision. Nonetheless, Mr Faraj Elmughrabi has represented the SOC in attending this remarkable gathering.
Mr Eltaghdy has also had a brief interview with the SOC web site, in which he pointed out that, "The purpose of holding this meeting is to upgrade the rule of Media & enhance means of evaluation through implemented activation in the oil companies. It has always been our concern that, such rule had not been practiced in the past, since the Media could neither match up to the ambitions sought by the sector, nor were it able to publish the news and information expressed from our point of view.
On the contrary, such data & details were regularly obtained through publications in the international press, newspapers, broadcasting corporations, and so is the internet. Sometimes even without the NOC full knowledge, and as a result, some of the published materials & data are basically built upon quasi-echolalia, rather than on true facts.
It is emphasized by all measures that, when the reins are taken by our own hands, information & news could by then, be smoothly procured from their real and true sources, as they would go via their proper & authenticated channels. Only then it would reflect the truth alone, with neither camouflages nor vagaries. This is especially true when considering the fact that, the oil Media has by now been adjoined unto the international cooperation & energy information dept."
Throughout the meeting, we have, in addition to the above, handled & come up with numerous plausible proposals & suggestions, pertaining to the furtherance of the Media rule.
However, we finally ended up with furnishing formula for a machinery to function, whereas, the enthusiastic diligence and preserved élan expressed by the audience are very much encouraging, and that the NOC will gladly give its support & backup to facilitate and overcome any difficulties that may rise whilst accomplishing the mission.
